Prepared for the Unexpected: Latest video in Mayor Bevilacqua’s video series

Are you prepared for the unexpected? We all remember the December 2013 ice storm and the impact it had on our community. From downed hydro lines to the loss of thousands of trees, the storm was a stark reminder of the power of Mother Nature and how quickly things can change.

The ice storm also demonstrated our ability to come together as a community and help each other. Across the City, people reached out to assist neighbours and City staff worked around the clock to ensure that Vaughan citizens could get back to a normal life as soon as possible.

In my newest video I talk about the importance of emergency planning. As a growing city, Vaughan is committed to fostering a community that is safe, and where residents and businesses know that the City is ready to respond when something happens. Planning for emergencies is a priority for us and includes annual training for all staff.

Please visit my webpage to view all the videos in the series. There’s a welcome message, a video about the City’s first professional sports team, TFC II, and one about the City’s budget.

Stay tuned in the weeks and months to come for more videos that will talk about the many things that make Vaughan a great place to live, work, play and invest, as well as some of the issues facing our community.

Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, P.C.
