‘Tis the Season with an Attitude of Gratitude!
I want to express my most sincere thanks to the entire community for their continued support of the City of Vaughan toy drive in partnership with the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish – a program that helps put a smile on a child’s face during the holiday season.
An annual tradition since 2010, we kicked off this year’s toy drive at St. Cecilia Catholic Elementary School with an exciting event that was broadcast live on CP24 Breakfast Television. Students, staff and parents organized an incredible event filled with meaningful and energetic performances. In a very personal way, I want to thank the St. Cecilia school community for their outstanding efforts in hosting this event. The generous and compassionate nature of our residents is truly inspiring and I know it means a lot to families in our community and beyond who need assistance.
The holiday season is a time of reflection, a time to remind ourselves of how fortunate we are to live in a place where generosity and compassion are demonstrated every day in every way by people who understand the need to come together to help others. I believe that a healthy and vibrant city thrives on the support of the entire community.
I am very proud of this city-wide campaign, which helps to ensure that no child is left without a gift on Christmas. More than 8,000 toys were donated in 2012 and I am confident that we will have another successful year of bringing smiles to the faces of thousands of kids.
